Grace R. Goldy, beloved aunt and friend, died on November 7, 2020 at her home in Monroe, NC — she was 96 years young!

Gracie, as she was affectionately called, was born June 25, 1924 in Thorofare, NJ. She graduated from NJ State Teachers College Glassboro and followed her dream, becoming an elementary school teacher where she shaped the lives of hundreds of children in her stern and loving way for 34 years. Never married, she lived with her best friend, Mary Beck, until her death in 2006. Grace was an avid traveler and lived in New Jersey, New York, Colorado, Florida, and North Carolina. Known as an expert seamstress, knitter, and crocheter, she made clothes and quilts for family, friends, and the needy up until her health started failing two years ago.

Always a devout Methodist, she actively participated in church groups and activities and let her faith guide her life. She was highly intelligent and sharp, with a keen sense of humor and great inner strength. She always displayed class, courage and impeccable character. Grace was a bright light who will be remembered as a sweet and loving soul who always listened and would gladly help anyone do anything.

She is survived by her nephew, Robert Pleis and his wife Fumiko; her niece, Barbara Stover and husband Edward and their family; and her niece, Susan Goldy and her husband Joseph Quattrocchi and family. She was preceded in death by her parents: Champion M. Goldy and Mary Glover Goldy.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5300 Nesbit Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173,, or text to give @ 704-870-2111.

Memorial services will be announced after the COVID-19 pandemic has declined and it is deemed safe to gather and celebrate her life.
