INDIAN TRAIL — Union County Sheriff’s Narcotics Bureau observed suspicious activity between two men on Thursday afternoon. Upon further investigation, it turned out that a drug transaction involving the sale of a quantity of heroin occurred between the two, according to the report from the Sheriff’s Office.

The drug transaction occurred within 1,000 feet of a school. Austin Lee Page, age 26, of Monroe, NC was arrested and so was Joshua Wendell Oxendine, 30, of Stallings. Page also brought his infant child with him, according to the report, while Oxendine brought a handgun along, which is not permitted because he is a convicted felon.

Page faces several drug charges as well as a charge of misdemeanor Child Abuse. DSS was notified following Page’s arrest and the child was returned to the mother.

Oxendine faces numerous felony charges associated with the Sale and Delivery of Heroin as well as Possession with Intent to Sell and Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School. He also is charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon.

Both Page and Oxendine were booked in the Union County Jail.
