MONROE — Three Union County men were arrested on drug-related charges last week by deputies for the Union County Sheriff.
Vladislav Biruk, age 30, of Indian Trail has been charged with trafficking heroin and opium, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies report responding to a call about “possible drug activity” in the Highgate subdivision in Weddington last Wednesday (June 2) before 6 a.m.
According to deputies, they saw Burik exit a black Mercedes and drop an object in a storm drain. They report finding a white substance in the drain. They retrieved the plastic bag, and found it contained 88 grams of what they believe to be Fentanyl.
Earlier last week, the Sheriff’s Narcotics team stopped a vehicle, and before it pulled over, they saw items being tossed out the window. Detectives report recovering more than 5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Two suspects were charged, including 36-year-old Curtis Alvin Burns of Monroe and 32-year-old Karmen Keeley Smith of Waxhaw. Both have been charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine.
