UNION COUNTY — There have been 3,141 cumulative cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the county, as of Tuesday (Aug. 11), according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) COVID-19 dashboard. Cumulative cases indicate both those who have tested positive and those who have come out of an isolation period.
There were 32 new cases confirmed in Union County on Tuesday, according to NCDHHS. There have been 43 virus-related deaths in the county through Sunday (Aug. 9), reports Union County Government.
As of Aug. 5, 1,856 people in the county who have tested positive for the virus are no longer being monitored, and there are 17 current hospitalizations, according to county government.
For context, the United States Census Bureau estimates there are 239,859 people living in Union County as of July 1, 2019.
Across the state, there are 138,743 confirmed cases and 2,248 virus-related deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University and Medicine’s Dashboard.
