The Unionville American Legion Post 535 is bringing back a piece of Unionville’s past by sponsoring the Miss Unionville Scholarship Pageant.

The Pageant will be held on Friday, Dec. 3 at the Benton Crossroads Baptist Church Family Life Center (109 E. Lawyers Road), and is open to contestants between a year old to to high school seniors. High school seniors are eligible to earn over $1,700 in scholarships and must reside in the Piedmont or Porter Ridge School districts. They can attend other schools but must live in the area neighboring Unionville.

All other age groups are open to contestants who live within a 75-mile radius of Unionville.

All Contestants will compete in winter and holiday wear as well as beauty and evening gown competitions. Miss Unionville Contestants will also have a private interview and on-stage statement about what patriotism means to them.

The pageant was last held in 1956 when Peggy Helms Green was crowned Miss Unionville.
