Wesley Chapel UMC Fall Community Yard Sale

Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its Fall Community Yard Sale and Marketplace on Saturday Oct 23 from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Location is at the corner of Potters Road S. and Chambwood Road. This is a community event so everyone is welcome to come and sell.

Vendors pay $10 per space to set up and sell. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact Judy at 704-219-3160 after 10:00 a.m. to reserve a spot. Proceeds from the vendor spaces will go to further mission work of the church. Donations accepted.

Replacement of sanitary sewer mains scheduled

The City of Monroe Maintenance Division will be replacing sanitary sewer mains in the street right-of-way on South Branch Street from Gordon Street to Pate Street. The city said, wheather permitting, work will begin on October 20 and take approximately five weeks to complete.

All damaged/disturbed items will be restored or replaced at the end of the project, according to the City of Monroe. Questions or concerns should be directed to the City of Monroe Water Resources Department at (704) 282-4601.

2 locals named to Dean’s List at University of Maryland

ADELPHI, MD — Matthew Bosnick of Monroe and Samantha Gromadski of Waxhaw made the Dean’s List for the summer term at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible, a student must have completed at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

7 locals earn their ring at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. — John Allocco and Joseph Taffner, both of Monroe; Carter Beaulieu, Caleb Deveaux and Nicholas Stallings, all of Waxhaw and James Phillips of Matthews were presented their Citadel class ring on Friday, October 1, 2021. One of the very first acts performed by the cadets after receiving their rings was to salute The Citadel War Memorial as they left the Chapel.
