RALEIGH — Yohanes Haile of Indian Trail tried his luck on a Jumbo Bucks scratch-off and scored a $750,000 top prize, according to a report from the N.C. Education Lottery.

Haile purchased his winning $10 ticket from the Food Lion grocery store on U.S. 74 West in Indian Trail.

He claimed his winnings at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Tuesday. After required federal and state withholdings, he took home $530,628.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website (https://nclottery.com/).
