STALLINGS — Atrium Health hoped to pass out 10,000 two-ply, reusable masks during a giveaway at Stallings Municipal Park on Tuesday (Oct. 6). Those who wanted a mask could either drive through the parking lot in a single-file line or walk up to volunteers and request one.
Atrium partnered with the Town of Stallings to host the giveaway as part of their Million Mask Initiative, which is to distribute two million masks throughout the Charlotte region. According to Atrium, it has already handed out more than 1.5 million masks over a span of 10 weeks when Governor Roy Cooper mandated wearing facemasks.
Lois Ingland, vice president of community engagement and corporate responsibility, said in addition to wearing a mask, science has shown that social distancing and frequent handwashing are key elements to keeping COVID at bay.
