UNION COUNTY — The arrival of warmer weather brings to mind fresh produce and the local Farmers Market. New this season is the opening of the Union County Farmers Market in Stallings. The satellite location opens this Saturday at the Stallings Municipal Park (340 Stallings Road) and is open every Saturday through September. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. until noon.
The main location for the Union County Farmers Market is at 805 Skyway Drive in Monroe and is open each Saturday from 8 a.m. through noon. For more than 30 years, it has offered a variety of locally grown and hand-made items.
Since 2001, the Waxhaw Farmers Market has offered area growers an opportunity to sell locally. Now at its new location at 27283 Waxhaw Parkway, it is open Saturday’s from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
There are also a number of privately-operated open air markets throughout the area.
