WAXHAW — Not many people get the chance to be a VIP at a sold-out Ohio State University football game, but 17-year-old, Philip Massaquoi, of Waxhaw, got that chance on Nov. 13. The opportunity was in addition to getting to participate in a shoot-around with the university’s basketball team on Nov. 12.

This soft-spoken young man, who lives with the daily challenges of Sickle Cell Anemia, has been a Buckeye fan his entire life so it was only natural that his sports dream was to attend a football game of the 8-time National Champs.

It was just over one year ago (at the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club meeting) that former Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer informed Massaquoi that Dream On 3 would be making his dream come true.

Massaquoi’s Dream Experience kicked off Friday with a surprise sendoff at his home at 6:45 a.m. He and his family arrived in Columbus, Ohio and headed directly to participate in a shootaround with the men’s basketball team at 1:45 p.m. He also attended the game Friday evening.

On Saturday, November 13, The Ohio State University football program hosted him and his family at the game.
