MONROE — A Union County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO) responded to the parking lot of Fairview Elementary School on Friday (Dec. 3) after receiving a report that an adult female was unconscious inside of a motor vehicle, according to a UCSO report.

The SRO reports loudly calling out to the female, who eventually regained consciousness. The female was identified as Kemberley Marshall of Monroe, NC.

Marshall was evaluated by the SRO and Union EMS during the initial investigation. UCPS school administration and the SRO verified that Marshall had not entered the building or interacted with any of the students on campus during the day.

During the investigation, the SRO found unprescribed Schedule II narcotics in Marshall’s possession and noted “multiple indicators of impairment,” per the report.

Once medically cleared, Marshall was arrested and transported to the Union County Jail by the SRO. Marshall was charged with one count of Felony Possession of s Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Sheriff Eddie Cathey stated: “We are glad our SRO was in the right place at the right time to be able to work with UCPS staff to ensure the safety of our teachers and students. Our SRO’s take great pride in their assigned schools and go above and beyond on a daily basis.”
