MONROE — The Union County Chamber is seeking nominations from individuals and businesses for its Annual Excellence in Business Awards, which recognizes individuals, nonprofits, and businesses demonstrating outstanding performance, innovation, a lasting impact on our community and exhibiting overall excellence in the marketplace.

The awards are presented to recipients each year at the Chamber’s Annual Awards event.

“We look forward to the Chamber’s Annual Awards Gala each year,” said Chamber President/CEO Pat Kahle. “It is a time for the community to celebrate businesses and industries that make our local economy strong and contribute to the quality of life for all who live here. The award presentations are a way to recognize Union County business and nonprofit organizations for their accomplishments in the past year.”

There are five categories recognizing businesses and one award category recognizing a local nonprofit. Award categories include:

  • Excellence in Small Business (employing 20 employees or less)
  • Excellence in Business (for businesses employing over 20 employees)
  • Community Impact Award
  • Employer of Choice Award
  • Rising Star Award (for businesses less than 3 years old)
  • Nonprofit Innovation Award

Nominations are open to the public. Award finalists must be Union County Chamber members in good standing.

In addition, the Union County Chamber recognizes one individual each year with the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual for a lifetime of consistent contributions to his/her business, chosen industry, and the community.

Past recipients of the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award include: Phil Bazemore, Dr. Jerry McGee, Tom Williams, Charlie Norwood, Carlton Tyson,

John Hendley and Dr. Howard Guthmann.

Award finalists and recipients are chosen by an independent volunteer committee. Award finalists will be announced prior to the event.
