The Carolina Panthers have made several bold moves this offseason.
The Panthers, who finished 7-10 last year, traded for the No. 1 overall pick for the April NFL Draft, and they have also signed some high-profile veterans.
Among their new additions are tailback Miles Sanders, tight end Hayden Hurst, safety Vonn Bell, quarterback Andy Dalton and defensive tackle Shaq Thompson and they resigned center Bradley Bozeman.
They have also released linebacker Damien Wilson and center Pat Eflein.
Sanders, who made the Pro Bowl after the 2022 season, signed a four-year, $25 million contract. A second-round pick out of Penn State in 2019, Sanders rushed for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022 for the Eagles.
Hurst caught 52 passes for 414 yards and touchdowns for Cincinnati last year. Hurst signed a three-year, $21.75 million contract with Carolina. Sanders and Hurst will likely be featured in the Panthers’ offense in 2023.
Carolina has also added two defenders that should start right away. Strong safety Vonn Bell inked a three-year, $22.5 million deal with the Panthers. Last year for the Bengals, Bell had 77 tackles and four interceptions. Tuttle agreed to a three-year, $19.5 million contract with Carolina. Tuttle had 49 tackles for the Saints in 2022.
Dalton signed a two-year, $10 million contract, and is expected to hold the seat warm for their new rookie quarterback. Carolina is expected to draft either Alabama’s Bryce Young or Ohio State’s CJ Stroud with the first overall pick next month. Bozeman projects as the starting center, and signed a three-year, $18 million contract.
