UNION COUNTY — As of Monday (Nov. 1), the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) reports 126,675 in the county have been partially vaccinated under all programs.

The County’s had 120,718 residents fully vaccinated. Union County Government reports a population of roughly 250,000.

According to NC DHHS data updated on Monday, the total of cumulative cases of COVID-19 in the county is at 36,483 and the number of active cases is 728, down from 843 last week. Cumulative figures account for all reported cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Union County Government COVID-19 online dashboard reported 30 current hospitalizations, up from 24 last week. The county positivity rate was 6.3% on Monday, down slightly from last week’s report of 6.8. There have been 339 cumulative deaths in the county. The state’s positivity rate, reported by NC DHHS on Monday, was 5%.

According to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Health, any positivity rate above 5% is classified as “too high” and indicates that “more testing should probably be done.”

Across the state, there have been a total of 1,482,464 COVID-19 cases per NC DHHS, and 18,068 virus related deaths.
