Loretta Wilson Yarborough

Stallings, NC

Loretta Wilson Yarborough, 67, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2020, at home from complications arising from metastatic breast cancer. She was born in Florala, Alabama on February 12, 1942 daughter of the late Frank and Ellen Elliot Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 PM in South Monroe Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Mrs. Yarborough is survived by her husband, Eric P. Yarborough, brothers, Bennie Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, Rickey Wilson of Savannah, GA, sister, Claudette Spence of Panama City, FL.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Carl Edwin Rodgers, Jr., 71, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010. He was born in Union County, NC on November 26, 1938 son of the late Carl Edwin and Bessie Robinson Rodgers. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Jerry A. and David Lane Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School, class of 1957, a US Marine Corps Veteran and retired after 40 years with Bowater, Inc.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Joanne Laney Rodgers, son, Scott Rodgers of Waxhaw, daughter, Ginger Rodgers Outen and husband David of Weddington, sister, Patti Lee Rodgers of Monroe, grandchildren, Shane Outen and Clint Outen.

The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the funeral at the church from 1:00 until 1:45. Memorials may be made to Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, 5915 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Rd., Monroe, NC 28112.

Mr. Joe Darrell Baucom, 70, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Baucom was born March 8, 1939 in Union County, NC, son of the late William Vann and Mable Long Baucom, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Calhoun Baucom and Avery Baucom.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Baucom will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb 6, 2010 at Hope Second Advent Christian Church, 6804 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC, 28110, with Pastor Brent Carpenter and Preacher Hank Parker officiating, entombment will fowllow in Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Survivors iclude his wife of 51 1/2 years; Marie M. Baucom of the home; one son, Eric Baucom of Monroe; three daughters, Sandy Mills and husband Mike, Sonya Greene and husband Jeff, Stephanie Williams and husband Shane, all of Monroe; eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Williams and Loretha Yelton, both of Monroe.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, 28110.

The Family would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Baucom’s sister-in-law, Angie Hinson, a Hospice Patient Volunteer for her loving care and support during his illness.

Mr. Steven Michael Davis, 55, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail. Interment will follow in Ritch Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born September 5, 1954 in Greensboro, NC and was the son of the late Roy and Sallie Lipford Davis. He was a heavy equipment operator and was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry C. Davis and Harold E. Shearin.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Wanda G. Davis; daughter, Melissa Cochran of Taylorville, WV; brothers, David R. Shearin of New Salem, George Shearin of Indian Trail, Wilford Shearin of Monroe and Dexter Davis of Hillsborough, NC; sister, Diane Rogic of Indian Trial; and 2 grandchildren.

Mr. Jeffrey Allen Deese, 45, of Monroe, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Callie Veatrice Helms

Mrs. Callie Veatrice Helms, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Helms was born July 10, 1922 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late James Avery and Myrtle Taylor.

She was preceded in death by a son, Avery Reid Helms; a brother, Frank Taylor; and a sister, Martha Lou Starnes.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, John Helms of Kenley, NC, Ed Helms, James Helms both of Peachland, Hosea Helms Jr. of Polkton, NC; five daughters, Myrtle Thompson of Peachland, Viola Williams of Cleveland, Carrie Morris, Margaret Helms, both of Monroe, Minnie Sanchez of Polkton; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

The family of Mrs. Helms will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at the McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service of Monroe.

Walter Floyd Thomas

Mr. Walter Floyd Thomas, 76, of Wingate, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. at Wingate Community Church with burial to follow in church cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, 2 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Wadesboro, NC.
