Excitement was in the air as approximately 100 people assembled for the first ever Sun Valley Elementary School 5K walk/run last Saturday (10/10/09.) As the beginning horn blew, walkers and runners began their trek down Rogers Road to Brandon Oaks and back. Infants in strollers, preschool age children, and even dogs with their owners joined the more serious runners and all enjoyed the morning event. When the participants returned, DJ Adam Fischer, rocked the parking lot of the school with music where Panera Bread bagels, Bruster’s ice cream and Qdoba soups and goodies welcomed the runners and walkers back. People milled around the parking lot visiting with neighbors, SVES students and others from the area who participated. Ryan Haimer and Kristen Cuccia, event organizers, thanked The Bear’s Lair for providing the tee shirts then announced winners from each age group.
